Halloween Pumpkins

Tonight we carved pumkins and make apple pie. Mom and Sage cleaned out the goo and then Ryan and Dalton put on the design outline then Daddy carved them. It was a fun family night.

Tring to get a family picture

We went to the Jacob Hamlin home after church to try and get a family picture. What a circus it turned out to be. The lighting was wrong. We couldn't get the kids to hold still, and mom forgot to bring the base that holds the camera on the tripod. Thank goodness that someone that was there sight seeing took pity on us and took a few pictures for us.

All the kids had fun painting free pumpkins at Star Nursery

Bottling Apples

Mimi gave me two boxes of beautiful apples. So me and my bottling crew spent a few days making and bottling apple pie filling.

Dalton working the peeler, and Adam was dipping them in lemon water, and sampling them

 Mom and her awesome helpers.
I ended up making 18quarts of apple pie filling and then a few quarts of apple sauce. I didn't even bother trying to process the apple sauce because we ate half of it the night we made it.
I love fresh warm apple sauce!!!
Thanks to all my awesome kids for all your help I couldn't do it with out you!

Moms new washer and dryer

So last Monday as I was getting ready to leave for work Ryan tells me Mom I don't have any clean pants for school tomorrow. So I hurry and start a load of laundry. As I am walking out the door I hear a loud clink clink bang. The washer broke. So that night Dan went out and bought me a new washer and dryer. They were delivered Tuesday night. Isn't my husband great.

Sage's tooth

Sage has had a loose tooth for a while now. So today dad decided it was time for it to come out and he got out the pliers and riped it right out of her face. I hope the tooth fairy has a gold dollar.

The boy's in the tree house.

Adam, Dalton, and Zack playing guns in th tree house. They pretend to shot dad as he mows the lawn. Adam couldn't get up and keep his gun in his pocket so dad helped him up so he could play with the big boys.

Pumkin Chocolate Cookies

Sage, Dalton, and Adam. Making cookies with mom. I'll we really want to do is eat the dough.

The Bird

Today as we were rushing to get out the door to get Dalton to preschool. My rebellious two year old decided instead of getting dressed he would go streak outside. There was a bird in the garage, which is not uncommon. They fly in to eat the dogs food and water. Well today the bird flu into the house, which totally freaked mom out. I ran out the front door and started shouting instructions to Dalton on how to get the bird out. Mean while I keep hearing the Thump Thump as the bird flies into the dining room window. After a few minutes I can see that the bird is going no where fast so I sneak inside and up stairs. I coax Adam into coming up stairs to get dressed. Shut the door behind us, just in case. Then Adam goes back down stairs to help Dalton scare the bird out while I stay barricaded in the bedroom until they finally succeed. Dalton was only 20 minutes late for preschool today.

Corn Husk Sunburst

I saw this idea in a magazine a few years ago and have been wanting to make one for years. Mom gave us 10 dozen ears of corn that we just finished doing. I decided I would use the husks and make a wreath. It took a while to make but I think it turned out cute. An awesome yard decoration.

Tuesday Oct 2011
What a crazy day. I did 5 batches of laundry and cleaned house all morning. At 3:30 I took Dalton to karate and sat and watched him while Sage and Ryan read their books. Adam sat on the floor and listened to Sage. At 4:00 we walked down a few doors to where Sage takes a tumbling class. I watched her for a 30 minutes but had to leave because Adam keep kicking the candy machine and Sages teacher Mrs Teresa had to get after him. I sat in the car for 30 minutes until she finished then we raced home to get Ryan's karate and scout uniforms and gather up jackets. Then at 5:45 took Ryan to his karate class and watched him for a 30 minutes then when to pick up pizza for dinner. (They were having a fund raiser for a little girl with cancer in there school and the money went toward that) Dan picked up Ryan and we meet at the Santa Clara park for dinner. At 7:00 Ryan had a pack meeting for scouts around the fire pit at the park. They learned fire safety. Ryan got a silver and gold arrow point. A fishing and I think a basket ball one from the activities they did at the Scout Day Camp. When the awards where done the kids got to roast marshmallows to make smores. It was a lot of fun. When we got home the kids got ready for bed, then watched TV with Dad until 10:00 while Mom folded the mountain of laundry on her bed so she could go to bed. Oh how I wish I could get help folding laundry instead of it just getting pushed over to my side of the bed so Dad can sleep while mom has to keep folding till all hours of the night.

Monday Night

For dinner I made a meat loaf, but didn't get it in the oven until 5:30. Then I started ending and snapping the beans I had picked from the garden that afternoon. Dan came home from work and brought in the two bags of corn from his truck. They had been there since Saturday and needed to be done right away. So Dan got the kids busy husking (Dalton was a husking machine) while he cut the corn off into large bowls. When I finished the beans I took over the husking while Sage and Dalton bagged half dozen ears of corn to take to the neighbors. Dan took a few dozen ears to his firefighters. Mean while we all visited, and jammed to Dan's bluegrass music while we worked together to do the ten dozen ears of corn. Ryan washed the corn. Sage bagged the corn and wrote the date on it. Adam sampled the corn and handed dad corn. Dalton husked and helped out where needed. When we finished we all sat down to a candle light dinner of meat loaf, potatoes, and beans. We also had a bottle of sparkling cranberry cider in moms fancy goblets. It was a great finish to a busy night.

Shopping with kids

I went to Walmart to get a few things. My kids where not too bad all considering. Adam will not ride in the cart, and if I try to put him in it I have to constantly hold him so he doesn't climb out, while he screams I GET OUT at the top of his lungs. So we slowly make our way through the store. We stop at every cool display and wait for Adam to look at it. Then when we finally get to the check out I get tons of help from my kids in unloading the cart. Today I had a price match of Diet Coke so I tell the checker. She rings up my grocery's and starts ringing up the next guys on mine as well. I stop her then she has to take it off my bill. Then because of the price match she has to take all the Diet Coke off. (Keep in mind I have already loaded my cart.) Then ring all the Diet Coke up again at the new price. Then I had 10 coupons. Two didn't ring up and I ended up arguing with the checker over them. She refused to over ride them as I am digging through my cart to find the items. Mean while Adam has found a little toy phone near the check out counter and has put it in his pocket and is pulling his shirt down over his pocket to hide it from me.
We finally made it out of Walmart.
Joann's was having a Columbus day sale with a 50% off coupon. I stop in there to get felt to make the kids some cute trick or treat bags. Adam runs in the store and has this ceramic figurine pulled off the shelve and broken before mom can finish walking through the door. Then as I started to walk down the isles to find the felt the kids start playing chase around the fabric displays. I finally catch Adam and he starts screaming LET ME GO at the top of his lungs. He is kicking and shoving at me and it is all I can do not to drop him on his head. I looked at the line which looped along the whole back of the store and decided to forget it. I left my cart where it was and walked out. My kids can use shopping bags this year for their candy.
Monday Oct 10
I started the morning out by cleaning the kitchen. Then moved to my bedroom, then moved to the boys room. I decluttered the boys room and got two boxes and a few bags ready to donate. I then cleaned out a suit case that contained our 72 hour kit. Dan had ordered 72 hr boxes that contained food, water, matches, glow sticks, and basicly all the stuff that you would need for a 72 hour kit. I had found backpacks for each of us at D.I. for 3 dollars a piece. They have been sitting in my bedroom for several months now just needing clothes added to them. So I went throught the old one and donated all the too small clothes and put clothes that will fit into the new kits. I then found a place to store them in garage.
A quick funny note. I found a few of Sage's princes pull-ups in the old 72 hour kit. So at bed time I put one on Adam just to be silly. It lasted just long enough for him to show his Dad then he put a boy one back on.

Sunday Oct 9th

It was the usual crazy Sunday morning. The alarm went off at 7:30 and we ignored it until 8:00 then we rushed to get everyone up and ready for church. Mom was running around to gather all the stuff that was needed to entertain the Sunbeams for an hour. Dan got the boys ready. Thankfully Sage got herself ready, all mom had to do was her hair. We couldn't find Dalton's Sunday pants so we just told him to put on blue jeans. Well it had been a late night Saturday night and he had slept in his clothes. We thought he had changed his pants until we were getting in the car and realized that his pants were soaking wet. He had peed the bed that night and was still wearing the same pants. So mom rushed him inside and changed his pants and underwear. Yes we did make it to church before they passed the sacrament, but we were still late as usual. During Sunday school Dan and I went to our marriage class. This week was on communication and was really good. Sunbeams went well. After church we had hot dogs for lunch, and mom put together a chicken pot pie in the crock pot for dinner. We also made an apple and pumpkin pie for dessert. Dads back hurt so Mom gave him a back rub and he took a long afternoon nap.

Saturday afternoon.
At 12:00 I had a hair appointment with Aunt Cortni. I got my hair highlighted. Dan got his cut, and mom learned a new way to blend hair to try on her boys when she cuts their hair next. We had a good time visiting Cortni then we when back to Grandma Mimi's house. Dan took a nap on the floor and I visited with Mimi about doTerra oils. We had a great BBQ rib dinner with homemade rolls. It was great! Grandma totally spoils us! Aunt Susan Walker came to visit for a while which was nice. We loaded up and headed to Grandma Reese's. We visited her and uncle Kevin for a bit. We even made a quick trip to Grandma Greats ( Mona) to lend her some books and say hello. Dan and Ryan had a good talk with her. She is getting foot surgery soon since she has decided she will live for a little while yet. Dan went to visit Gregory at Aunt Susan's while I was at my moms. We then headed home getting back at 10:30. It was a fun weekend!

Getting Wood

Saturday Oct 8 2011
We spent the night at Grandma Mimi's house. We all woke up that morning to the sound of buddy yelping up a storm because Dan tried to pick him up. Then we had Grandma's famous waffle breakfast. Then Grandpa Nelson, Dad, and Mom caravaned up on Cedar Mountain to Uninta Flat. We traveled down a dirt road that had a few larges puddles we had to drive through until we got to a spot in the road that had lots of Aspen tree's broken and hanging in the road. From the recent snow storm. Dan cut the trees in the road, and the dead ones off to the side of the road. The kids had a great time playing in the snow while dad cut logs. When the wood was cut we (Grandpa, Mom, Ryan, Sage, Dalton, and Adam.) all worked to load Grandpa and Dad's trucks. It was cold and lots of work but we had a good time.

Friday Oct 7

Dan had Friday off. He got ready and headed to his moms around 11:00. I had to wait until the kids got out of school at 3:00. So I spent the morning cleaning and packing. I wasn't finished packing at 3:00. It took me until 4:00 to pack and load the car. Then I needed to stop by Target to buy Adam and Dalton some shoes. All they had were sandals and crocks. So we got them some snow worthy tennis shoes. Sage and Dalton only had jackets so they got new winter coats. Finally at 5:00 we left St. George to go to grandma's. Grandma had new pajamas for all the kids when we got to her house. We had a great dinner and stayed up late visiting. The kids were so wound up they wouldn't settle down for bed. Sage ended up biting her lip really bad monkeying around. Of course it didn't help that Ryan pushed her off the bed.
